Exhibition in three parts Vol.1: Condo
Mexico City, April 14 - May 12, 2018
In partnership with Galeria Enrique Guerrero
Bass and Reiner Gallery, in conjunction with Condo and Galeria Enrique Guerrero is pleased to present a solo exhibition of recent works by Ivan Iannoli. Iannoli’s core program engages new ways of image making and the transition between an object and its representation. By fracturing the two dimensional picture plane into a multiplicity of physical layers, he presents the viewer with a personal antidote to the so-called “Authority of Pictures.” Crossing the boundaries between photography, collage, painting, and sculpture, Iannoli takes on new risks in an effort to invent a language that lives between image and sensation. The show will take place in three parts unfolding across different spaces and platform over the next five months, beginning in Mexico City and ending in our home space in San Francisco. As it reorganizes, grows, shrinks, and reconstitutes the exhibition will react to its surroundings as well as its audience.
About the artist: Ivan Iannoli is a San Francisco based artist and educator. He received His MFA from UCLA. His work has been exhibited widely, including Photo LA 2015; Shoshana Wayne Gallery, Los Angeles; PØST Gallery, Los Angeles; and SIA Gallery, Sheffield, England. He is currently on the faculty of the San Francisco Art Institute and the California College of the Arts.
